Update of the Real Food Standards

In July 2015, the national student-led Real Food Standards Council is began the project of updating the Real Food Criteria—the standards by which The Real Food Challenge define ‘real food’ for hundreds of universities. Version 2.0 of the Real Food Standards will be released at the start of the 2016-2017 Academic Year. 

This process is highly participatory, including a national survey and interviews with student researchers and campus stakeholders; consultation with a wide swath of producers, advocates, and community stakeholders; and an open public comment period.

Real Food Challenge is a national student campaign dedicated to creating a healthy, just and sustainable food system. Our goal is to shift $1 billion in institutional food spending to 'real food.'
